Caitlin Marcoux

Caitlin is a mother, yoga teacher, writer, massage therapist, breast cancer survivor and manager of The Yoga Room on Nantucket Island. She is the creator of Strong Girls Yoga a curriculum for tweens and teens, committed to providing Nantucket’s young women with a safe environment to cultivate confidence, self-esteem, mindfulness and peace.

A former modern dancer, she infuses her teaching with her passion for music and dance, keeping her flow creative, playful and fresh. Her classes are vinyasa based and influenced by her teachers Shiva Rea, Elena Brower, Rodney Yee, Ganga White, and Andrei Ram. Caitlin's background in bodywork and massage make her hands-on adjustments confident and healing. She is an advocate of eating healthy, embodying the flow, rockin’ out whenever possible, and living out loud.

On March 15, 2013, Caitlin was diagnosed with aggressive, invasive ductal carcinoma and though now cancer-free, is still in treatment. She has written for elephant journal and is a regular contributor for RebelleSociety.com. She is currently writing a memoir about using yoga to navigating breast cancer.
