presenter spotlight: mary mullin

Mary lives in Sandwich, MA here on Cape Cod and teaches kundalini yoga at Village Yoga in Marstons Mills. We're so excited that she's a part of our festival.

What are you looking forward about LYF? I’m looking forward to teaching my class on Sunday and having participants experience Kundalini Yoga. I love being a part of LYF because it has brought the Cape yoga community together. It’s going to be a great weekend!

What’s your mantra? One of my favorite Kundalini mantras is SAT NAM. Sat meaning truth, Naam means name or identity. “Truth is your identity.” It is a bij or seed mantra. It is said that chanting this mantra awakens the soul and helps you fulfill your destiny. Similar to Namaste, it is often used as a greeting, acknowledging that we are connected and one in spirit.

Favorite pose? My favorite pose is Bound Lotus Kriya – it’s also the one that challenges me the most. First, it can be physically challenging. In the full pose you are in full lotus pose, arms wrapped behind you (maybe grabbing your toes…not there yet!) and forehead to the floor. It is also mentally challenging once you are in the pose as it is often held up to 31 minutes. Silencing the mind is often the most difficult part of the practice.

Favorite spot on the Cape? Sandy Neck at low tide.

Join Mary on Sunday, August 17 for her class Give and Receive Love with An Open Heart!
