Amanda Giacomini

Amanda Giacomini is an internationally recognized yoga teacher, artist and illustrator. As a yogini, she began her studies over twenty years ago with Indian aster Sri K. Pattabhi Jois in India and San Francisco teacher Larry Schultz. At age 25, during her first yoga teacher training she met her husband, Nicholas, who would later become known as the yoga hip-hop artist MC Yogi. The pair began to weave a creative life together based on a common goal to uplift the world through yoga, music and art. In 2001, they founded their studio Yoga Toes Studio in Point Reyes, CA. Since then, MC Yogi and Amanda have taught all over the world at yoga festivals and conferences, elementary schools, yoga studios, teaching centers, art museums including the Smithsonian, The Crow Collection in Dallas, The San Francisco Asian Art Museum and even the White House. In 2011, Amanda was invited to become a faith ambassador to Michelle Obama’s Let’s Move initiative. In May 2013, Amanda appeared on the cover of Yoga Journal and has been featured many times inside the magazine as well as other national yoga publications including Yoga International and Origins Magazine. As an artist, Amanda has illustrated the award-winning Mo’s Nose children’s books that feature her rescued pit bull, Mo, along with a unique press-2-smell technology that dispenses aromatherapy while you read. She has also been working on a series of fine art oil paintings that illustrate mythology from Buddhist and Hindu traditions. She has been invited to share her work at the Dallas Asian Art Museum and the SF Asian Art Museum. When she is on tour with MC Yogi, she provides live visual art for the shows; a mash-up of original animations, spiritual symbols, vintage Bollywood films and footage of classic yoga and hip-hop culture.
