LYF 2016 Presenter Spotlight :: Rebecca Ketchum

Drawn to yoga’s non-competitive and healing nature, Rebecca sees yoga as a practice of nonjudgemental self-observance using breath, space, and body awareness as a guide. Structured around sthira (steadiness) and sukha (ease), her mindfully aligned vinyasa classes include elements of her extensive background in Iyengar, Ashtanga, dance, and Kundalini. Her classes are known to leave students full of new information yet clear-headed, light yet grounded, strong yet nimble. She teaches group classes at Kula Yoga Project in NYC and specializes in teaching private clients to help them live a more peaceful, pain-free life through therapeutic yoga. Rebecca’s work is influenced by Schuyler Grant, Nikki Villela, Genny Kapuler, Jillian Turecki-Baer, Nevine Michaan, Thomas Myers, Pina Bausch, and Amy Matthews.

She is on the YTT faculty at House of Jai Yoga, Kula Yoga Project, Loom Yoga Center, Sacred Fig, and Crane Yoga School. Sharing what continually intrigues her about this complex practice with others nurtures and sustains her. She loves nothing more than guiding others to become graceful, intelligent, and humble teachers. She travels around the world leading retreats and workshops on anything from the spine to inversions to pranayama.
