East Forest
East Forest

EAST FOREST has been the leader of underground ‘sound healing’ ceremonies around the world since 2008. Using music as a tool, he has trail blazed the field of organic tech, building bridges between the digital and natural world. Being fully independent and playing in the private shadows allowed the sound of East Forest to emerge: an emotional and spacious musical lexicon with a sound that took shape out of a practical need to play solo for five to six hours while guiding a room full of listeners in deep meditation.

The new East Forest record also features guest appearances from the likes of Trevor Hall and Grammy nominated artist, Krishna Das, all framing Ram Dass’ teachings with contemporary voices and cementing the 87 year old spiritual teacher into an echelon of relevancy and immediacy — offering a direct antidote for a highly polarized nation that is deeply in need of a universal voice of wisdom, connection and unconditional love.

In 2019, East Forest will drop two major projects — “Ram Dass” (4-parts) + “Music For Mushrooms: A Soundtrack For The Psychedelic Practitioner” (May 2019), a remarkable 5-hour fully connected album experience designed to act as a ‘digital shaman’ and musically guide the psilocybin (the active ingredient in psychoactive mushrooms) experience in the rapidly progressing drug research studies occuring around the world. With ten years in development through active research of his own, East Forest is offering an unprecedented musical tool to help guide and support the new burgeoning field of psychedelic therapy. Most recently the FDA has fast-tracked psilocybin by granting it “breakthrough therapy,” and early applications include powerful and lasting treatments for PTSD, depression, anxiety, addiction and likely much more.

His performance on Saturday night of Love Yoga Festival is more of an experience than a concert.

Mike Massey
Mike Massey

Mike Massey is the stone that the builder refused.  Growing up in Roxbury, Massachusetts, a multi-racial, poor and disenfranchised individual, Mike was forced to overcome his fair share of obstacles. Witnessing firsthand what crime, drugs, low income, poor performing schools, domestic violence and losing friends to either: the prison system or the cemetery, can lead to; Mike quickly learned that the ability to BREATHE and stay calm would save his life. Mike was always known for quick wits and a broad imagination, so he constantly dreamt of better days, not just for his loved ones and himself, but for his community as well.

After suffering a severe fracture to his arm while playing semi-professional football, the answer to his dreams appeared. The trauma from the surgery to repair the extensive damage, allowed depression to set in. In an attempt to defeat the depression he was led to try yoga. Mike believed playing again would cure the pains. So he tried yoga; at that point to simply make a grand comeback on the field.  The comeback was a success and he played football for three more years.  Following the murder of his friend and teammate: Odin Lloyd, Mike decided that life was too short to wait for dreams to come true.

Mike enrolled in a yoga teacher-training program at South Boston Yoga. He trained intensely under David Vendetti and Todd Skoglund (the owners of South Boston Yoga).

As soon as the ink was dry on his certification Mike took to the streets; literally teaching any and everywhere.  Teaching yoga to anyone who would listen.  Mike’s name is now synonymous with the word “YOGA” in Boston and all surrounding areas.  His focus is to spread the healing powers of the craft around the world.

Yoga saved Sami’s life; it’s from that place of determination and vulnerability that she teaches. A former ballerina, Sami originally turned to yoga to give her pain relief after back and hip surgery at 16 and 21. Then in late 2014, Sami tragically lost her then fiancé. Her experience with trauma and grief completely changed her outlook on yoga. It was no longer simply a way to challenge her physicality; rather, it became an imperative tool towards survival and peace. Equipped with the tools and committed to love, Sami stayed committed to a happy ending. She got married in 2019 to her incredible husband Patrick and they are expecting a daughter in July 2019.
