Workshop Description

How often do you wake up feeling less than rested? When you have time or permission to rest or nap,
does your mind continue to race or do emotions like guilt prevent you from taking the time? Rest and
sleep are radical acts in a culture that emphasizes how much you get done in a day or a work week. And the human
conditions necessary for rest and sleep are not equal and present for everyone. Yet, without quality and
quantity rest and sleep, physical and mental health suffer. Robin presents science that supports sleep
and rest, explores rest from a yogic perspective, and offers ideas and practices for reclaiming our
right to rest. Bring pillows, blankets and bolsters or whatever helps you feel comfortable in rest.

About Your Facilitator:

Robin Ivy Payton is an experienced yoga teacher and the creator of Robin’s Zodiac Zone, a hub
for daily forecasts and color of the day online and in other media since 1999. Find her articles in
Llewellyn publications such as the Moon Sign and on her website and blog. Robin was originally trained
by Jacqui Bonwell and furthered her yoga studies with Pranakriya School, Maine Yoga School, Grace
Jull and others. In Portland Maine area, Robin leads 200 hour trainings for Maine Yogafest School
of Yoga, Yoga Nidra & Restorative Yoga teacher trainings in 300 hour schools and independently.
Her weekly classes include vinyasa flow, yin yoga, gentle yoga, supported alignment with
ropes, slings and chairs, and private sessions.
